Justice Restoration Center
Committed to the legal and professional needs of survivors of human trafficking, attorney Brent Woody launched the West Florida Center for Trafficking Advocacy, now known as, the Justice Restoration Center (JRC), in 2012 as a way to serve human trafficking victims and survivors. Now, JRC provides trauma-informed restorative pro bono legal representation to victims and survivors worldwide on issues of Florida law. A team of committed volunteer attorneys works in the areas of criminal, family, and general civil law, representing clients on a variety of issues resulting from the clients' trafficking experiences. Brent Woody initiated Florida's robust human trafficking expunction statute which became law in 2014. JRC now represents survivors from around the world expunging Florida criminal records obtained as a result of the survivor's participation in the trafficking enterprise.
In 2014, JRC began expanding its work into the Florida corrections system, helping identify a highly vulnerable inmate population and assisting inmates with trafficking expunctions, safe-release arrangements, and post-release connections to safe restorative services.
As lead attorney and executive director of the Justice Restoration Center, Brent Woody looks forward to expanding the work in 2021, to provide the most relief possible to those who did not deserve what happened to them, but do deserve justice and help getting back on their feet.
